Paint gun - I used a HVLP (high volume/low pressure) top feed paint gun. These are the latest in technology. Previous paint guns would run ate a high pressure and would tend to fog the paint onto the car. It was common to barely see the car by the time you had painted half of it. It would produce a nice finish, but wasted allot of paint. Not very good fotr the enviroment, but at the cost of the newest paints you want to get as much of it on the car instead of on the floor. The HLVP is amazing. up to 90% of the paint will end up on the car. The negative is that it will take extra time to setup the gun so you get the proper spray. Once set, it works great. I bought the gun from Harbor Freight for $45. A friend that is a professional painter, tried the gun and was impressed. He said that it was very similar to the $400 guns, just wouldn't stand up to the rigors of everyday use.
Paint For this application I decide to use PPG paint since it was highly recommended my many. Higher priced, but supposedly well worth it. The Merlot base is metallic and I would use a clear cost, over that.
